Despite a surprise BREXIT vote June stock markets closed near where they opened. Large company stocks ended very slightly up and tech and small company stocks a little down. Large company stocks have finally recovered from the two market corrections of the past twelve months. Small company stocks still lag their last summer’s level.
Presidential election years show a pattern of monthly returns when compiling the averages over past election years. July and August average positive returns while September and October are negative. November and December average positive again. No matter which party wins. Of course this year may be different.
June blossoms give way to the honeysuckle, sweet peas, lilies, lavender, phlox and bee balm of high summer. The mild winter with a late dose of snow cover has created an exuberant display. Ideal conditions also boost thriving weeds and rodent populations. There is no “enough”, or rest, in nature.
