Large company U.S. stock markets rose gradually over the last half of the month to close August up 2.1%, as measured by the DOW and S&P indices. Bonds also had their first positive month in a while. August market leading sectors included information technology, health care and consumer staples stocks.
Summer days we love linger into this month of changes. Soon osprey and hummingbirds will head south, beginning the great migrations. The season of bounty offers some balance for the dwindling daylight. Know what is coming does not need to diminish the joy of today. But it’s a struggle every year.
